Whether you have just shifted to your new home or want to give a makeover to your old master bedroom, you need some exclusive ideas to make your bedroom design stand out.Having a spacious bedroom does not necessarily mean that you need to fill it up with an array of furniture. It only needs to combine all the bedroom designing elements together to create an ambience.Bedroom has to be warm and cozy to ensure good night’s sleep.

Decorate in Style

If you choose to decorate your bedroom by yourself instead of hiring a professional interior designer then you need prior research work.Giving your bedroom a new look is not a tough job provided you have some creative ideas up your sleeves. You will find myriads websites ready to offer innovative interior design ideas.Traditional or contemporary, oriental or western or simply eclectic — pick your style first. Decorating by style reflects good taste and artistic sense. It will also help you proceed in a systematic way while choosing furniture, fabrics and other decorative items for your bedroom.

Color is the Key

Choose colors for your bedroom wisely as colors play a key role in creating the desired mood.If you want to make your large bedroom feel comfy and warm you need brighter shades like orange, lemon yellow or rosy pink. You can think of contrast coloring schemes as well. But for smaller rooms it is advisable that you do not go overboard with colors.Lighter and cooler shades like cream, pale blue or light purple are just fine with small bedrooms.

Furnishing Fundamental

It is needless to say that your bed is the focal point in your bedroom. It is better to divide the bedroom into different zones especially when you have a large one.It makes the entire decorating process easier.Large bedroom with wide windows require larger furniture while smaller bedrooms call for space saving furniture and low-lying beds. High king size bed with double mattress and fluffy pillows will perfectly fit in to a large picture.Position the bed against the wall in a way so that anyone entering the room cannot see it from outside. In this respect a well-decorated hotel room can be a good inspiration for designing a bedroom. Place a chic looking chest or cabinet at the foot of the bed to keep television on top of it.It also adds little more privacy to the sleeping area.

Choose large wardrobe and wall-mirrors for the dressing zone. Small wooden desk with table lamp and set of cushioned chairs in a corner can ideally create a cozy reading or lounging area in your bedroom. When it comes to selecting bedside tables and lamps go for round shaped ones rather than square ones if you go for traditional style.Modern bedside lamps come in varied shapes and size to choose from.

Textile Texture

Pick fabric wisely for your bedroom as it relates to comfort as well as privacy.Bedroom windows need double layers of curtains.Long and heavy drapes are to bar the sunlight and cold. Thin light-colored linen curtains ensure privacy while allowing ample sunlight during daytime. For pillow and cushion covers choose fabrics with attractive colors and fine texture. Bedroom is all about rest and comfort.Wide range of fabrics with different textures and price range are available in the market. So,look for variety of fabrics as much as possible before you select one for your bedroom. Use your imagination and bedroom design ideas to create your own style statement.Hang intricately designed tapestries or a colorful painting with soft wall-lamps focusing on it at the head of the bed.You can not buy anything that appeal to your senses.Choose pieces of art work and tapestries depending on the mood and style of your bedroom design. Placing potted plants by the bed or window brings soothing touch of nature as well.Flowers and floral art works also add to the romantic charm of a bedroom. To be precise,a good amalgamation of your creativity and interior decorating tips given by experts is sure to create the spark in your bedroom decor.

For A Southwest Style Bedroom Use Rawhide Lamp Shades

Traditional style bedrooms

Rawhide lamp shades are what can turn your bedroom into a designed showplace of southwest style. By accessorizing your bedroom with rawhide shades you are infusing the key elements of the decorating process. It is the natural character of rawhide that captures the essence of southwestern design and adds the rustic beauty to your room. With just a few changes to your lamps and lampshades you too will find the warm inviting feel of a southwestern bedroom.

You might be surprised to find how many different types or styles work with southwest design. For example, you might find that you already have all the lamps you need and the addition of rawhide lamp shades makes them work perfectly. By displaying them differently with rustic shades, many lamps can be transformed from traditional to rustic style. It’s not so much the lamp as it is the shade that displays the rustic texture you want. Get creative with an old lamp by adding rawhide shades and watch the room come to life.

It is best to match your rawhide lamp shades in your bedroom by color. For southwest style bedroom lighting, a light bleached rawhide shade is the color of choice. Draw your bedroom together with rawhide floor lamp shades that match the shades on your bedside lamps and any table lampshades that you might have in the room. Different heights and diameters of rawhide shades are also very attractive and add an interesting sense of drama to the room.

Lighting is a key element in the bedroom. You will want to bee able to change the mood of the room. For romantic times you may want to use subtle lighting, but you will also want bright lighting for dressing. Most bedrooms are under lighted, or poorly lighted by using one overhead light. This causes a lot of glare and doesn’t have the mood creating properties of individual lamps. By using several different lamps in your bedroom, you can create focal points in different areas of the room for different moods, and use higher and lower wattage bulbs to set the right intensity of light. Natural rawhide lamp shades create an ambiance that will coordinate the southwest theme that you want to create.

Weather you use your existing lamps or purchase new rustic lamps for your bedroom, the key to having the correct look in the bedroom is to layer the lighting. In other words, create lighting zones that give you the ability to create areas of light that are suited to a specific function. One great trick to enhance your new or newly created rustic lamps is to use a dimmer switch. Because rawhide lamp shades are a natural product, different lighting moods can be set by allowing more or less light to filter through the rawhide. Another nice idea is to use remote controls, timers and automatic switches to turn light on or off in certain areas.

Bedroom lighting is important and rawhide lamp shades will add a quality of life through a beautiful warm atmosphere that you will enjoy day after day. And along with that also comes the function that allows lighting to serve you better. Lighting affects us on many levels and natural rawhide lamp shades will help you create the harmonious and peaceful bedroom that you need.

You can use lamps with rawhide shades in many locations around your bedroom, beside the bed, on a desk, as floor lamps and indirect lighting. Remember to use separate controls for reading lamps and to place the lamps so the light is projected from behind the reader to eliminate glare and shadowing.

Rawhide lamp shades will work miracles on your rustic bedroom makeover. We have been discussing southwest style, but rawhide shades are also available in dark western hide for ranch or lodge décor and in unique colors for country décor. Each type of rawhide has its own special lighting characteristics. So weather you want to lighten your bedroom, darken it, or add rustic color, you will find inspiration in hand crafted rawhide lamp shades.

Explore the Charm of Country Style Bedrooms

Traditional style bedrooms

Country style bedrooms have become very popular these days, perhaps due to their informality, simplicity and a leaning towards hand-crafted natural materials. While it can be stylish, the country bedroom should always be restful and refreshing without over doing precise co-ordination of furniture and fabrics.

Since the emphasis is on comfort and character is is easy to see that the true hallmarks of the country bedroom are a clean unfussy environment that is perfectly conducive to rest and relaxation, with practical fabrics and furnishings that have restrained but often rich colour schemes.

If you’re lucky enough to have a rustic room anyway, don’t over furnish it. Instead, allow the architecture to do the talking and let the furniture complement it rather than fight it. It is often best to choose a showpiece bed and then match it with eclectic pieces of furniture.

Warm pine furniture mixed with cream and white bedding will often give the bedroom a cosy feel, while a traditional brass bed is an important ingredient of the traditional country style and can transform the look of your bedroom. If you feel able to afford a four-poster then you’ll instantly create a bedroom that’s not only spectacular but also perfect for relaxing in at the end of a long hard day.

Try to choose bedside tables that match for a co-ordinated look and layer your bed with throws and cushions. Be aware that generously stuffed cushions, feather pillows and duck-down quilts ensure that comfort is high on your list of priorities. A deeply buttoned, padded headboard instantly creates a comfortable feel in your room, while padding the foot of your bed creates a look that shouts pure luxury.

Keep walls plain and simple, or go for patterned wallpapers that will still please you even when you are lying in bed with gastric flu! If you’re committing to a bold pattern, go for a motif that you really identify with, whether you choose butterflies, birds or florals. While you can mix florals and plains – take care not to overdo it in a small room.

If you want a modern country style bedroom, choosing a bold floral pattern does the trick, but in a small space, keep to smaller patterns. Where space is tight, keep walls plain and co-ordinate – even if you don’t match – your patterns elsewhere. For a room that needs to feel free and spacious, go for a light, neutral colour scheme that will play down the pattern.

On the other hand if you want a look that’s a little more whimsical then choose a mixture of patterns and colours – choosing shades from a palette of pale and punchy jewel colours. Pile on the pattern if the light is good in your room – and if it’s a decent size. However, keep the colour scheme simple, adding interest by varying the patterns’ sizes and styles.

You can make a space seem bigger by choosing wallpaper with reflective properties as these will bounce light around and make the space seem more luxurious. Probably the best approach to liven up a naturally dark room is to use a big mirror, shutters and small pieces of furniture which will all help to stretch the space.

Perhaps you feel that your bedroom lacks character and you want to upgrade it. By putting panels of wallpaper behind your headboard you will create what looks like a focal wall or, you could simply wallpaper the wall behind your bed in a feature paper. Don’t despair if you have a seemingly dull all-white theme, it is easy to update as you can easily create a country look just by changing the bed linen for something more striking.

When going for fully fitted furniture all around your room, keep the finish very light – that way it won’t dominate your space. Fitted furniture doesn’t have to mean modern and bland, you can still get a country look if you pick the right style of units – and in a small or awkward space, it will help you make the most of space.

If you want your bedroom to have much more of a sophisticated look then glass furniture, chandeliers and mirrors, along with ornate furniture are all must-buys. In addition choosing bed linen with a sheen, will give your room a feeling of luxury – and you can add panels of wallpaper with a similar finish to exaggerate the effect.

An alternative luxury look can be created by incorporating high shine floors, dark furniture, detailed wallpaper and of course posh bed linen. Bear in mind also, that a very tall headboard will give any room a sense of its own importance.

For a large bedroom that you want to look solidly rustic you can easily go for chunky wooden furniture in a light finish or, you can choose darker furniture so that the room looks much more modern. On the other hand in a less spacious room slim, delicate furniture is a better choice as it will help make your bedroom feel much bigger.

Some people feel that a wooden floor is a must-have for country look lovers. Wide, stripped pine floorboards are ideal but, if your house doesn’t already have original boards, good quality engineered wood can give you just as smart a finish. You could even use subtle paint effects, such as a stencil around the edge, to add interest and almost any type of rug will look great as well as make walking barefoot more comfortable.

While tiled flooring is not something you’d necessarily expect from a country style room, if it’s under-heated, it can be both practical and comfortable, especially if you add extra layers of comfort with rugs. Alternatively, if you are a committed comfort lover, wall-to-wall carpets in near white or neutral tones won’t detract from the authentic look, provided they aren’t too sumptuous or shaggy.

Natural light is a very important factor in a bedroom as a gloomy room can precipitate a gloomy mood so do make the most of every window which should be dressed in the height of floral prints or soft naïve fabrics. If you need privacy, or the view is far from perfect, hang simple white net or muslin curtains that can stay half closed all day long with blackout blinds that may be pulled down at night. For a room with big windows, try to enhance your space with flowing curtains and layer the windows with added blinds.

Artificial lighting is much more attractive and softer in the form of wall lights and bedside table lamps, with simple shades in checked, floral, striped, or plain fabrics. Victorian-style brass table and floor lamps also suit the country bedroom look.

One final word; don’t forget to add charming details such as ivory hairbrushes, cut glass jars, old perfume bottles, trinket boxes, a dainty clock, porcelain figurines, silver photo frames and flowers. Flowers really are compulsory in the country bedroom; even a simple posy of wildflowers on a dressing table completely changes the feel of a room. They should always be visible somewhere in your bedroom, whatever the season, simply because since time immemorial country folk have always kept flowers and healing herbs wherever they laid their head.
